About

You ever follow a walkthrough online, or discover some new thing, learn up about it, do the thing, then later on completely forget how to do that thing again?

That’s the kind of thing I’m trying to eliminate for me with this site, and maybe share something useful with the rest of the world too.

I make no claims to have created or invented most of the things I present here, and there are probably tons of other sources of information on each topic available, beyond what I have here. However, some of the things I do can get a bit technical, tedious, and otherwise downright fiddly. Also, many of the first attempts just simply failed for one reason or another.

What I’m attempting to do is to document the process that worked for me, and highlight the little pitfalls and points to watch for along the way, so others won’t necessarily have the same start-stop-rewind experience that I did. Ideally, if you’re trying to replicate something I did, you should be able to do just do it yourself the first time without the “dang it” moments I encountered. These are the things that aren’t usually made clear (or sometimes even mentioned at all) on other walkthroughs, but were discovered through research across the web, and good old fashioned trial-and-error.

To me, those other site walkthroughs should be warning about possible places where things can go wrong, and why, but usually they are just written as if things were just peachy from start to finish, without any issues whatsoever. Pure as the driven snow and everything. I’m trying to ensure that, if for some reason I ever wanted to go back and do that thing again, I don’t have to worry about hours of research and getting caught back up on the particulars; I can just read through the article and have all the ins and outs right there without all the cross-referencing (or more likely, panic searching when something doesn’t do what it was expected to do, as I probably had to do the first time around!)

So that’s what you’ll find here. If it’s information that I found useful for some hobby project or favorite pastime, I’ll put it here for posterity and future use- whether by myself or others.

Welcome to my world! It can get a little cluttered around here now and then, but that’s just the casual disarray of discovery you see about.

Enjoy!
